Oral Examinations
Visiting your dentist twice a year for routine oral examinations allows your dentist to spot any oral health issues that may be developing and make a plan to treat them before they become more serious concerns.
During each examination appointment, your dentist will take a close look at the health of your teeth, gums, jaw, and bite. If required for diagnostic or treatment purposes, your exam might also include dental X-rays, an oral cancer screening, and other diagnostic procedures.
Hygiene Cleaning
Your dental hygienist works with your dentist to help you achieve your optimal oral health. Before or after your exam, your dental hygienist will perform a deep cleaning of your teeth and gums to prevent and treat disease.
Your cleaning will include the careful removal of any built-up plaque and tartar between your teeth and along your gum line, followed by polishing and thorough flossing to get your smile looking and feeling its very best.
Fluoride Treatment
Your dentist may also recommend a fluoride treatment if you or your child has a high risk of tooth decay. Fluoride is a natural mineral that can help to rebuild the minerals in your tooth enamel to prevent or even reverse tooth decay.
